Mountain conditions online
Day hikers, backpackers, and climbers now have an online tool to check the current backcountry conditions in Grand Teton National Park. The website is: www.tetonclimbingpass.blogspot.com. Backcountry rangers on patrol have been updating conditions on this website since early May. The site gives real time conditions for climbing routes, mountain passes and major trails and canyons. Definitely try to remember this site the next time you go to GTNP for a hike!
Chicken Fry this weekend!
The 41st annual Wilson Volunteer Fire Department Chicken Fry is on Sunday in the Stilson parking lot. This year the Fry will honor George Underwood. Underwood died this summer after a battle from cancer. The former Fish Creek Road resident helped drive the fire truck too children's birthday parties. His memory will be served when 50 volunteers serve 2,000 pounds of fried chicken to valley residents and visitors. Last year, there were nearly 3,000 mouths feed. Funds raised this year will support training and personal safety equipment for firefighters.
Farmer's Market every Saturday
If you are in town, you should definitely stop by the town square on a Saturday morning for the Jackson Hole Farmer's Market. On Saturday, local farmers gather around the town square selling fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers, baked goods, and some health goods. Also, every week a different restaurant passes out a sample of there food. The first week the Four Seasons Resort had French toast with a berry sauce on top, and last week the Q Roadhouse served jambalaya. The Farmer's Market is a great place to get fresh healthy food and product that are made (or grown) close to home.
Snow King Race
For all you runners don't forget to sign up for the 41st annual Snow King Hill Climb. The race begins a 9am on July 26th. The starting line is at Town Square, and the finish line is located at the top of Snow King Mountain. The race is 2.3 miles with a climb of 1,571 vertical feet.
